No so much addictive as a life style.
The natural high that comes from doing well and attaining goals can be addictive (especially for competitive taype A personalities).
It does rope you in but it is very good way to stay in shape.

i guess;speed is addictive, so is power. plus, the strategy and tactics make it a chess match on wheels at 30 mph.
I think addictive is the right word in many cases. Especially in people who have addictive personalities. Although, being addicted to adrenaline (from racing) is a lot healthier than being addicted to nicotine, alcohol, etc.
Ok the very word addictive has a negative connotation; but, cycling is better that some other addictions! Am I addicted to cycling? You tell me.
